Trip to one of the best men's tailors in the world

At the Fashion Design Institute, great importance is attached to the individuality of the students and everyone is allowed to design a collection according to their own taste. Recently, more and more interest has been shown in menswear. This is precisely why the Düsseldorf Fashion School organized a trip to London to one of the world's best menswear tailors "Gieves & Hawkes". This is where the richest and most famous people, including the royal family, dress. The atelier still values old traditions and uses classic tailoring techniques.

The fashion students were able to learn a few things about the secrets of well-fitting suits and talk to the men's tailors. Many activities are carried out manually and without the use of machines. In particular, a high-quality tailored suit has a hand-sewn lining, hand-sewn buttonholes and hand-sewn buttons. Long seams are made by machine. Of course, the suit is also ironed/steamed by hand. The suit must be constantly ironed during the sewing process. It was precisely this process that the fashion design students were able to observe, learn from and experience.
