Admission Requirements:

  • At least a Fachoberschulabschluss / Realschulabschluss or a higher qualification / attendance of 10th school years
  • Minimum age 16 years
  • Interest in fashion and communication

Application Procedure:

The following documents must be submitted:

  • Curriculum vitae in tabular form
  • Copy of the last report card
  • Copy of a valid passport (for non-EU citizens also a valid residence permit)
  • Current passport photo

These can be sent by mail. max. 5 MB.

After that we will have a personal conversation (also possible via Skype)

A creative portfolio must be submitted for Fashion Design only.

It should contain at least five works. Alternatively, you can also take part in our free workshop as a substitute for the creative portfolio.

These can be drawings, collages, sculptures, illustrations, photographs, blogs, or creative objects that you make yourself.

Promotion/Funding:

BAföG:

The FDI is state-approved as a private supplementary school according to NRW School Law § 118 para. 1 of the NRW School Law.

The educational programs with FDI diploma are subsidized according to § 2 Abs. 2 of the Bundesausbildungs-Förderungsgesetz (BAföG), which does not have to be paid back.

The Bachelor's and Master's degree programs are funded in accordance with Section 7 (1a) of the Federal Training Assistance Act (BAföG).

Educational Credit:

For the last 24 months at the FDI, you can apply for an educational loan from the KFW (Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau).

Scholarships:

Each year, one full scholarship and two partial scholarships are awarded across all courses of study. The artistic director decides in consultation with the sponsor.

Each scholarship is limited to 12 months

Savings Banks' educational provision

The "Savings Banks Education Loan" consists of several building blocks that can be combined. The interest rate and monthly disbursement amounts for the education loan are determined by each savings bank itself. As an upper limit, the umbrella organization DSGV recommends €25,000.00 plus interest. Repayment can be extended to up to 10 years.

Tax:

All costs of the various educational courses can be claimed at the responsible tax office. The special expenses are limited to 6000 euros. Discuss the individual benefits with your tax advisor.
