London’s bespoke tailors – our next stop on tour

What makes the perfect men’s suit? And where can you get such a suit?

In London’s Savile Row, of course. That’s the home of the world’s best men’s tailors.FDI students had a rare opportunity to watch the tailors working at both the Anderson & Sheppard and Gieves & Hawks’ studios. Designer Alexander McQueen learned his bespoke tailoring craft at both these companies.

Students were interested to see the studios in action, and lucky enough to be able to talk to the cutters and glean tips on men’s suits. This contact helped them appreciate the complexity of the craft and the industry.
